As a DIN EN 45011 accredited certification body, OVO Cert’s task is to
inspect and monitor the production of foodstuffs and to certify compliance
with certain given audit standards. This includes the primary production
upstream the food chain. OVO Cert was established in April 2005, and is
based in Bonn, Germany.
By monitoring the compliance to quality standards, OVO Cert helps the
consumer to develop and maintain confidence into the the checked food
products. In addition, OVO Cert assists the marketing and retail
organisations by certifying the respective grading and quality
standards.
The certification programme is currently tailored to the standards of the
Association for Controlled Alternative Animal Husbandry (KAT = Verein für
kontrollierte alternative Tierhaltungsformen e.V.), the Food Quality Union
(GGE = Gütegemeinschaft Ernährung), as well as the International Featured
Standards (IFS). Further standards are in process to be included.
OVO Cert provides further services like combined audits (KAT/IFS or
KAT/IKB), and - within the scope of the Food Quality Union (GGE) -
also coloured eggs, game and rabbit meat are audited. Through
cooperation with control and monitoring agencies for organic production, we
also can do combined organic / KAT audits at laying farms.
OVO Cert GmbH’s auditors are highly qualified with a high degree of
specialisation in the relevant product groups or process stages. All
auditors must meet the minimum requirements set by the standard
owners, have practical experience in their specialised field, and do
regular training
